In Hindu mythology, the gods created Manu, the first man, who gave life to all humans. He is the archetypal man; progenitor of humanity. According to legend, Manu was the earth's first king and the ancestor of all the kings of India. The most famous tale involving Manu tells of a great flood that destroyed everything on earth. The myth is repeated in similar other flood myths such as that of Gilgamesh and Noah. In “Manu” I want to capture the universality of humanity, across time, locations, cultures, whether Hindu, Greek, Roman, Jewish, Christian, Muslim and everything in between or beyond. There is but one man- God; the human race.
